In many ways the backup and restore could be a more complete process of replicating a node if some of the details from the device could be included in the (or a) configuration file that could be restored from either a .ZIP file or an S3 repository. one of those things would be the networking configuration (currently applied to systemd-networkd) so that a node could be replaced fully in the case of a hardware or file system failure.
